Accomplishments
For Pennzoil-Quaker State
Pennzoil-Quaker
State Company is a worldwide leader in consumer car care and
maintenance products. Their Creative Services Department is
responsible for producing the collateral, packaging and
point-of-purchase materials for over forty divisions.
Projects range from updating retail packaging to creating
decals for the racing team. Various combinations of fifty
people comprising eighteen groups of approvers are included
in the routing of layouts. The old system utilized some
handwritten forms and an Access database that evolved over
the years on an as-needed basis with help from the IT
Department. We were hired to streamline the systems and
processes associated with producing the growing quantity and
complexity of projects Creative Services takes on. The
complete case history is featured in our August
2002 Newsletter.
For Stage Stores, parent company of Palais
Royal.
Creating
and maintaining schedules for hundreds of jobs is a
monumental task, but we have a client does just that. We’ve
reworked their scheduling
system, incorporating popup calendars and scripted update
capabilities that maximize the intuitive skills their
production specialists have developed over the years.
We’ve developed
scripts to automatically generate reports. Click a
button labeled “Due Today,” and you get a report
of all the steps in each schedule that’s due that day.
There are similar buttons labeled “Due Tomorrow,”
“Due Today & Tomorrow,” and everyone’s
favorite, “Past Due.” A report for any given
Date Range is also easily generated. These tools facilitate
the monitoring and maintenance of these schedules, ensuring
accurate information is disseminated to the various project
stakeholders. The old system
involved making thirty hard copies of the weekly multipage
report and distributing by hand. Now data
is exported to hyper-format Excel spreadsheets that allow
recipients to instantly filter data by Job Type, Group,
Client, Writer, Artist, etc.
For Aggreko
This
company was responsible for supplying temporary power for
mission critical functions like broadcasting, security,
timing and results operations, and information technology at
the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. We were hired by
their marketing department to develop a system to track jobs
and budgets as well as the results of their telemarketing
and trade show efforts. The new system tracks projects from
their inception through production, and stakeholders are
regularly updated on the status of their jobs. Read the
complete case history in our April
2002 Newsletter.
For McCrory and Associates

For Direct Marketing Network
We
were hired by this small direct marketing agency to
implement processes and procedures to better manage a
growing number of complex projects for their high-profile
corporate clients. We were onsite daily for a month, given
an office and even a few projects to manage. The old job
logbook was replaced with a modern job-tracking database
shared by the entire agency. Biweekly production meetings
were established. A process manual was developed to ensure
that existing as well as new employees would use and
perpetuate the system. Read the complete case history in our
January 2002 Newsletter.

For The Houston Advertising Federation
The
HAF's ADDY Awards Show is their largest event of the year.
When the call went out for volunteers to coordinate ticket
fulfillment and table assignments, we joined the committee.
There are 400 to 600 attendees, pre-assigned ten to a table.
There are Gold, Silver and Bronze tables sold at different
rates that change as the deadline approaches. Information
comes in sporadically. Final attendee and table counts can
change up to the night of the event. Read about our
automated database solution in our February
